About me

Juan Modesto has developed a unique sound of his own on the lower register. Playing the Double bass and the Electric bass has led him to play with a great number of outstanding artists around the world. Wherever he plays he is respected not only for his instrumental talent but also for his sensitivity and ability to hear every subtle sound in order to blend his bass tones.

Juan is an allround musician and his bass lines can easily build the heart of a chamber music ensemble or an indie rock band. With an academic education in classical music, Latin roots and a vast experience in rock and pop music, he adapts to any style and taking it to the next level.

Juan was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a country buzzing with all kinds Latin rhythms, American rock and pop music. He started playing the guitar at the age of 15 but quickly realized that his real passion was the Electric bass and later on the Double bass. Juan graduated in Classical Music at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca in Spain and has proved his talent for classical music playing in orchestras such as the Royal Theatre Madrid’s Symphony Orchestra and Academy Symphony Orchestra, and National Symphony Orchestra Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). He studied with Joaquín Izquierdo and Luis Fonseca and attended many workshops and Masters Classes learning from a wide variety of amazing musicians such as Damián Arenas, Andrew Ackerman and Philipp Stubenrauch.

Since July 2014 he lives in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where he plays with different  bands in the Rhein-Main area and teaches music while working on his own compositions.
